William Wenzel Neuburger is denied access to the Lafayette UMC campus until 3/10/2022.
On the morning of Friday, March 5, 2021, William Wenzel Neuburger was in downtown Lafayette and caused enough of a ruckus that multiple downtown merchants called 911 on an individual who was acting erratically. Neuburger had made his way into the church property and sent our church preschool into lockdown. Neuburger was soon after apprehended and taken into custody.
Mr. Neuburger was enough of a threat to the downtown area that multiple law enforcement agencies converged on this event. Lafayette UM Church has been granted a no trespass order against William Wenzel Neuburger which is valid until March 10, 2022. William Wenzel Neuburger has an extensive arrest history for a wide variety of offenses. If you see this individual on the LUMC campus, get to a safe place and call 911.
The staff of Joyful Beginnings Preschool followed all lockdown protocols and thankfully, the most that happened on the church property was that Mr. Neuburger’s erratic behavior gave the preschool staff a fright and he was unsuccessful in prying open the doors of the church office with a stick.
Leslie Murray and Pastor Robin arrived on campus to attend to police and preschool staff. Over the weekend, Chris and Tina Martin installed lighted cameras on campus to increase safety and monitor on-site activities.
A big thank you to all who responded to this emergency situation!
